SURREY, B.C. – There’s been a strange twist in the investigation into a hit-and-run accident in Langley, B.C., that claimed the life of a man early Wednesday morning.
RCMP in Surrey say they found the driver of the semi truck which struck the 37-year-old pedestrian.
Police say the driver is an expert civilian witness contracted by police throughout the region.
In fact, police say that the expert had been consulting with the Surrey Mounties traffic section on an ongoing traffic investigation just hours before the hit and run occurred.
Surrey RCMP has now requested that an independent observer from another police force monitor the hit-and-run investigation.
Police say they’re looking for witnesses and need to establish a timeline for both the driver and the victim to try to piece together what may have happened.
