Leave Lumby Food Bank donations by the curb Wednesday night
LUMBY – Residents of Lumby can support the community food drive by placing non-perishable items at the end of their driveway for the firefighters, police, ambulance members and volunteers coming to collect them Wednesday.
The drive takes place Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. and all money and foods collected will go to the Lumby Food Bank.
The Lumby food drive echoes what the City of Revelstoke has been doing with great success for the past four years. Since Revelstoke began Emergency Services Fight Back Against Hunger, the program has grown to more than 400 volunteers who have collectively raised about 50,000 pounds of food and $30,000 for the Revelstoke Food Bank.
Const. Gary McLaughlin was involved with the Revelstoke effort and was transferred to the North Okanagan and started the intiative in Lumby.
The Lumby Food Bank helps more than 50 local families each month.
