Calgary flood relief concert hopes to raise more than $1 million for fund

CALGARY – Organizers of a fund-raising concert planned for Thursday in Calgary say they expect to raise more than $1 million for the Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund.

Peter Jurisic, chairman of Alberta Flood Aid, says the concert is nearly sold out.

He says it’s been “incredible” to see how many people and organizations have stepped up to make the concert a reality.

The line-up of artists includes Nickelback, Jann Arden, Randy Bachman, Tom Cochrane, Matthew Good and Corb Lund, among others.

Jurisic says all the acts have agreed to perform at no cost.

Concert-goers are being encouraged to wear rubber boots as a show of solidarity with volunteers who helped with the flood cleanup.
