Rogue B.C. dentist heading to Toronto, prompts Canada-wide arrest warrant

VANCOUVER – B.C.’s College of Dental Surgeons says the search for a dentist accused of practicing dentistry without a license has become a country-wide hunt and the college is offering a $2,000-reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of Tung Sheng Wu.

The college says it believes Wu, known as David, was planning to set up shop in Toronto.

Wu is wanted on a warrant after not showing up in court this week to face contempt of court allegations that he violated a 2003 injunction ordering him to stop practicing dentistry.

College registrar Jerome Marberg says the college was granted the authority to seize Wu’s vehicle from a transportation facility yesterday, and a number of documents, personal belongings and dental supplies were found inside the car.

Marberg says the car was slated to be shipped to Toronto, leading the college to believe Wu might be heading east to set up another practice, despite his promise in 2003 that he was leaving Canada.

The Fraser Health Authority said last week it notified clients they may have been exposed to unhygenic conditions while treated by Wu, whose house was searched by RCMP and college investigators in late May.
