The wedding ringers: 2 photogs who shoot City Hall weddings also make perfect witnesses
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Hundreds of people get married at New York’s City Hall every day. Sometimes nervous lovers forget flowers or rings, but what about the one real necessity — a witness?
That’s where Goran Veljic (GOHR’-an VEL’-ich) and Braulio Cuenca (BROW-lee-oh KWEN-kah) come in. Between them, the two wedding photographers have served as witnesses for thousands of couples. Volunteering for the duty both markets their photography services and allows them to share in what is for many people the happiest day of their lives.
Over the years the two have seen it all — double weddings, weddings with dogs, celebrity sightings, weddings before planes to catch — and of course, busy New Yorkers getting married on their lunch break.
Manhattan’s City Hall has become one of the nation’s premier wedding destinations, with about 20,000 ceremonies a year.
