Minnesota judge confirms administrator for Prince estate

CHASKA, Minn. – A Minnesota judge has confirmed the appointment of a special administrator to oversee the settlement of Prince’s estate.

Carver County District Judge Kevin Eide (EYE’-dee) formalized his appointment last week of Bremer Trust to handle estate matters in the wake of Prince’s death at age 57.

Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, requested the appointment last week, saying the superstar musician had no known will. At Monday’s probate hearing, Eide asked a packed courtroom whether anyone knew of a will, and the courtroom was silent.

Eide said the court hasn’t yet determined there is no will — only that no will has yet been found. The hearing didn’t address how long Prince’s estate may take to settle, or how much it’s worth.

Five of Prince’s siblings and half-siblings attended the hearing.
