TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,762.30 up 87.95 points):

San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Up 0.75 cent or 4.92 per cent, at 16 cents on 11.05 million shares. The gold sector led all the subgroups higher as bullion rose for the third consecutive day, up $25 to US $1,395.80 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up six cents, or two per cent, at $3.06 on 8.67 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 18 cents, or 3.02 per cent, at $6.15 on 4.86 million shares.

Iamgold Corp. (TSX:IMG). Miner. Up 39 cents, or 5.85 per cent, at $7.06 on 4.78 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 54 cents, or 2.63 per cent, at $21.11 on 4.44 million shares. Barrickannounced Thursday that it will sell off three mines in Western Australia to South Africa-based miner Gold Fields Ltd. for $300 million.

Toronto Venture Exchange (946.56 up 11.52 points):

Fission Uranium Corp. (TSXV:FCU). Uranium exploration. Up eight cents, or 6.20 per cent, at $1.37 on 11.14 million shares.

WesternZagros Resources Ltd. (TSXV:WZR). Oil and gas. Down 14 cents, or 12.73 per cent, at 96 cents on 5.98 million shares.

Company reporting major news:

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (TSX:MFI). Meat and bakery company. Up $1.05, or 7.84 per cent, at $14.44 on 457,647 shares. The company will sell its Rothsay business unit, which business operates six rendering plants and a biodiesel plant employing some 550 people, to Texas-based Darling International. Toronto-based Maple Leaf said it will use about $645 million it will receive for Rothsay to pay down corporate debt.
