KAMLOOPS – A man caught backyard-hopping in Juniper last night is facing several charges after he was arrested in a bizarre chase.
A Juniper resident contacted the police after he caught a man running through his and his neighbours backyards around 10 p.m. last night.
When the man confronted the assailant — the suspect began throwing rocks at him, hopped in a vehicle and only narrowly missed the homeowner on his way out.
Kamloops RCMP initially tried, to no avail, to pull over the vehicle after it fled the scene. The vehicle sped off, and the man jumped out of the vehicle to run away.
RCMP continued the search with a police dog and around 45 minutes later, the man was spotted on foot on Highway 1 and was arrested without incident. The man remains in custody and faces numerous charges including dangerous driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and assault.
