Cows with apparent bullet wounds found dead in Kelowna

KELOWNA – RCMP say a pair of cows were shot to death near Postill Lake Road sometime this week.

Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says police received a report yesterday, Oct. 4, of two dead cows with bullet holes. He referred all further questions about the cows to the B.C. SPCA.

Kane Blake, with the Okanagan Forest Task Force, says he found the dead cows near the 6700 block of Postill Lake Road.

The task force is a group of volunteers that drive the forestry roads in the Kelowna area looking for illegal dumps and then clean them up.

“Two cows had been shot and left to die, one in a mud bog… the other on an adjacent road,” he says in a media release.

He says both cows appeared to have bullet holes.

Blake says when he looked for a brand or tag on the cows, he determined they were from Coldstream Ranch.

The B.C. SPCA hasn't immediately responded to a request for comment.
