BRUSSELS – A Belgian court has ordered Mohamed Abrini, the Brussels attack suspect known as “the man in the hat,” held in custody for another month.
Four other suspects also had their detention extended, Belgian prosecutors said Thursday in a statement. They include Swedish national Osama Krayem, who Belgian authorities say was spotted with the suicide bomber who attacked the Brussels subway March 22.
That same morning, Abrini, sporting a hat, was seen with the two suicide bombers who targeted Brussels Airport. A total of 32 victims died in the attacks.
Abrini, 31, a Belgian national, is also wanted in connection with the Nov. 13 attacks that killed 130 people in Paris. Belgian and French officials say the same network backed by the Islamic State group was responsible for both actions.
