Kamloops and cities around the Okanagan have some expensive projects on the go, but do you know which companies are getting paid to build them?

There are several public projects on the go in the region with price tags over $100 million.

Kelowna has the Parkinson Recreation Centre rebuild and a parkade at the airport. Vernon has its Active Living Centre and there’s the Kamloops Centre for the Arts and the Kamloops Arena Multiplex.

The $251 million Parkinson Recreation Centre project has been contracted to Stantec, Diamond Schmitt and Bird Construction. The $120 million Kelowna International Airport parkade is being built by Eagle Builders.

In 2025, the City of Kelowna paid Bird Construction group $9 million, Diamond Schmitt got $1 million, and Stantec received $8 million. Bird Construction’s portion of the project is around $125 million.

The $154 million Kamloops Arena Multiplex is also being built by Bird Construction, along with numerous other companies and the $211 million Kamloops Centre for the Arts is being built by Clark Builders.

The City of Vernon gave the Vernon Active Living Centre contract to Clark Builders. The total budget for the project is $135 million.

In 2025, The City of Vernon paid Clark Builders more than $55 million. Clark Builders does a lot of government projects, as well as several ongoing data centre projects.

Cities go through a procurement process when hiring contractors and most cities post bidding opportunities online whether on their own site or BC Bid. Any contractor or vendor paid more than $25,000 is publicly disclosed each year.
