US Marshals to auction off ex-US Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s fur capes, celebrity memorabilia
CHICAGO – Mink capes and assorted Michael Jackson memorabilia once belonging to Jesse Jackson Jr. are heading to the auction block.
Bidding begins Tuesday in an online auction. The proceeds will be used to help repay $750,000 in campaign funds that the Chicago Democrat illegally spent.
The 48-year-old former congressman was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison last month for misspending campaign money. The son of civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson was also ordered to repay $750,000 in campaign cash.
The items are being sold by the U.S. Marshals Service, although it isn’t clear how much money the auction will raise.
In addition to furs, one of the largest pieces of memorabilia is a guitar signed by Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen.
