OTTAWA – Statistics Canada says fewer Canadians visited the United States in July,mainly as a result of fewer overnight trips.
Canadian residents made 4.7 million trips to the United States in July, down 2.1 per cent from June, with overnight travel falling 3.6 per cent.
Travel from Canada to overseas countries increased 0.8 per from June to 798,000 trips.
In the opposite direction, travel to Canada from the United States was unchanged at 1.7 million trips in July.
Travel to Canada from overseas countries slipped 0.8 per cent from June with six of the top 12 overseas markets recording decreases in travel.
The largest percentage decrease was in travel from Mexico, which dropped 5.8 per cent.
