Early this morning a woman crossing Pandosy street in downtown Kelowna was knocked to the ground by a large bus making a left turn from Lawrence Avenue. The 69-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the charter bus was handed a violation ticket, with a fine of $167.
Kelowna RCMP Const. Kris Clark says they received a report of the accident at approximately 9:40 a.m. When they arrived on scene they found a female pedestrian lying on the ground in the intersection and a charter bus was standing by. Clark says the bus driver was attempting to make a left turn onto Pandosy when he struck the woman as she was crossing the intersection.
Clark says the bus driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian, a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act.
