Highway 1 traffic temporarily stalled during Kamloops RCMP investigation

KAMLOOPS – Traffic is flowing again on Highway 1 in Kamloops this evening after police temporarily blocked the area in relation to a "high risk" traffic stop.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay says in an email statement that police located a truck they believed to be connected to Michael Shawn Boyer around 1 p.m. today.

Police put out a call to the public early this morning asking for any information on 41-year-old Boyer's whereabouts, following an alleged altercation with police yesterday, Nov. 4, in which an RCMP officer was sent to hospital.

Pillay says a "high risk" traffic stop was conducted on Highway 1 East and exit 375 after the truck was located. The people in the vehicle cooperated with police and Boyer was not present.

Traffic in the area was blocked for a period of time, however, it has since been reopened.

Pillay, who heads the Serious Crime Unit at the Kamloops RCMP detachment, says officers are continuing their search for Boyer in relation to yesterday's incident at the Tournament Inn.
