CALGARY – Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Jaron Freeman-Fox & the Opposite of Everything and David Francey — all from Ontario — lead with four nominations apiece heading into this year’s Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Wild folkies Lemon Bucket Orkestra earned nods for instrumental group of the year, new/emerging artist of the year, traditional album of the year and world group of the year as nominations were announced Thursday.

They’ll have competition for instrumental group of the year and world group of the year from Jaron Freeman-Fox’s outfit, who also earned nominations for producer of the year (for David Travers-Smith) and in the “pushing the boundaries” category.

And the multiple Juno-winning Francey, from McDonalds Corners, Ont., claimed nods for contemporary album of the year, English songwriter of the year, solo artist of the year and producer of the year.

Landing three nominations apiece were Lynn Miles, Justin Rutledge, John Wort Hannam and the duo Mary Jane Lamond & Wendy Isaac.

The bilingual Canadian Folk Music Awards will be held Nov. 10 at the University of Calgary’s University Theatre.
