UPDATE: Flood watch rescinded for Coldwater River in Merritt

MERRITT – The flood watch issued yesterday afternoon for the Coldwater River in the Merritt area has ended.

Persistent rain and snowmelt over the past two days are caused the river to rise, however, the high flows have not passed through the Coldwater River, according to a River Forecast Centre release issued today, Nov. 24.

Over the weekend, the River Forecast Centre expects flows to continue to ease through Friday and into the weekend.

The River Forecast Centre expected the water level in the Coldwater River to peak yesterday.

A flood watch is issued when water levels are rising and will approach or exceed a river's banks.

Forecasters will continue to monitor conditions and will issue updates as conditions develop.

For the latest on flood watches go to the River Forecast Centre's website.
