Kelowna crash a reminder that slippery road conditions are out there — even without the snow

KELOWNA – Road conditions may have played a role in a crash that sent two people to hospital with minor injuries yesterday evening in Kelowna.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, when a black Dodge Dakota pickup truck rolled over after the driver lost control of the vehicle in the 13000 block of Highway 33 East, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release.

The truck hit a highway speed sign and a tree, leaving it severely damaged. O’Donaghey says the man and woman made their way out of the banged-up vehicle and walked away with “relatively minor injuries."

Both were taken to the hospital as a precaution for a full medical assessment.

“Police ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash,” O’Donaghey says in the release. “Investigators believe that a dramatic drop in temperature, combined with wet roads, possibly led to black ice and poor road conditions.”

Witnesses to the crash who have not spoken to police are asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
