Denmark: Police act to foil suspected terror attack plans

COPENHAGEN – Police in Denmark carried out “a comprehensive and co-ordinated police action” across the country based on suspicions of preparations “for terrorist attacks with a militant, Islamist motive,” authorities said Wednesday.

In an earlier statement, police said there had been multiple arrests. The Copenhagen police department and the Danish domestic security service scheduled a news conference for later in the day.

Danish authorities have reported foiling several extremist attacks in recent years, including ones linked to the 2005 publication in a newspaper of 12 cartoons by various artists depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
