Targeted shooting in southeast Vancouver is city’s fifth murder of 2013

VANCOUVER – A man has been fatally shot in what Vancouver police believe is a targeted attack.

Const. Brian Montague says officers were called to the Fraserview neighbourhood in southeast Vancouver at about 12:30 Friday morning.

The 32-year-old victim was found in the backyard of a home, suffering from gunshot wounds, and died a short time later in hospital.

Montague says the man is known to them and was likely the victim of a targeted hit, but investigators have not said if the attack may be linked to gangs or drugs.

It’s Vancouver’s fifth murder of the year and the second targeted shooting in the city in less than a week.

A man is recovering from injuries after someone opened fire on his vehicle as the two cars travelled east on a busy southeast Vancouver street on Tuesday afternoon.
