OTTAWA – Canada’s national unemployment rate was 6.9per cent in September. Here’s what happened provincially (previous month in brackets):

_ Newfoundland 10.4 (10.7)

_ Prince Edward Island 11.0 (10.6)

_ Nova Scotia 8.6 (8.7)

_ New Brunswick 10.7 (10.7)

_ Quebec 7.6 (7.9)

_ Ontario 7.3 (7.5)

_ Manitoba 5.5 (5.2)

_ Saskatchewan 4.3 (4.2)

_ Alberta 4.3 (4.8)

_ British Columbia 6.7 (6.6)
