Ashley Cole to miss England’s decisive World Cup qualifier vs Poland with rib injury

LONDON – England will be without Ashley Cole for the decisive World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday because the experienced left back has failed to recover from a rib injury.

Leighton Baines is again set to deputize for Cole, who missed the 4-1 victory over Montenegro on Friday because of the problem he sustained playing for Chelsea against Norwich in the Premier League last weekend.

England coach Roy Hodgson has no other fresh injury problems for a match at Wembley Stadium that his team will likely need to win to qualify automatically as Group H winners.
