Kelowna Olympian Serwa grabs another honour
KELOWNA – Kelowna’s ski cross star Kelsey Serwa has been named the honourary Team B.C. captain for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Serwa, 29, won an Olympic silver medal in ski cross at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games and won both the X Games and World Championships in 2011.
She was also won a gold medal at the 2007 Canada Winter Games for alpine skiing before making the transition to ski cross.
“It was a real eye-opener for me to attend the Canada Games in 2007 and I remember the pride I felt representing my province,” Serwa says in a media release. “I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with the 2015 athletes and cheering on Team BC to a fantastic performance.”
Serwa started skiing soon after she started walking. It must be in her blood because her grandfather Cliff Serwa was one of the co-founders of the Big White Ski Resort.
The Canada Winter Games will be held in Prince George from Feb. 13 to Mar. 1, 2015.
