LANGFORD, B.C. – After an upset loss to the U.S., Canada faces an even tougher foe Saturday in unbeaten Argentina at the Americas Rugby Championship.
Canada (1-1-0 with four points) has never beaten the three-time champion South Americans at the tournament, a developmental event for the Americas.
Canada and the U.S. are fielding domestic sides, with their professionals remaining with their overseas clubs. Argentina brought a reserve team, with the Pumas elite squad having just wrapped up play in the Rugby Championship with Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Uruguay sent its senior side.
Argentina (2-0-0 with 10 points) has dominated the tournament this year, defeating the U.S. 27-9 and Uruguay 34-0.
Canada opened with a 17-10 win over Uruguay before losing 30-10 to the Americans.
Uruguay (0-2-0) plays the U.S. (1-1-0) in the early game at Westhills Stadium on Saturday in a matchup of their World Cup qualifying playoff next year.
