UPDATE: Suspect in custody after standoff with Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS – A 51-year-old man was arrested following a six-hour standoff with RCMP near Kamloops yesterday.

Police say officers were called to a domestic assault in progress at a trailer on Sebiston Creek Forest Service Road and the Trans-Canada Highway at around 10:49 a.m. yesterday, Dec. 16.

The RCMP’s heavily armed emergency response team was deployed to the incident west of Savona to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible, according to a media release.

RCMP warned the public to stay away from the unfolding situation in the interests of safely.

Police say at around 4:30 p.m., officers “were able to safely arrest a lone 51-year-old man of no fixed address from a trailer on Sebiston Creek Forest Service Road.”

RCMP aren’t saying if anyone was injured during the domestic assault or what charges the suspect faces.
