Woman tells inquest she tried to get nurses to check on man in Winnipeg ER

WINNIPEG – A woman who first discovered that a man waiting in a Winnipeg ER for more than a day had died says she knew something was wrong.

Debbie Abraham told an inquest into the death of Brian Sinclair that she tried to get nurses at the Health Sciences Centre to check on him numerous times in the 34 hours he was there in September 2008.

Abraham saw Sinclair on Sept. 19 in the emergency room and again when she returned the following night.

Abraham says the double-amputee was in the same spot and she didn’t see him breathe or move.

Sinclair died of a treatable bladder infection caused by a blocked catheter.
