B.C. brothers charged with making home-made bomb amid festering dispute
OLIVER, B.C. – RCMP in Oliver, B.C., have arrested two brothers in connection with a homemade bomb, which was planted under a car amid what police say appears to be a long-standing feud.
The police say the bombing happened Aug. 11, but wasn’t reported for a day because residents initially believed the blast was a lightning strike.
A resident came to the local RCMP detachment with a piece of shrapnel, prompting officers to attend the scene and determine a homemade bomb was detonated under a parked car.
No one was injured in the blast, but a large piece of metal was found inside a garage after ripping through a wood stud.
Police say 23-year-old Eric Daoust and his 19-year-old brother, Stephen, have been charged with using explosives.
RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says it appears a young man who lived in the home was targeted by two people with whom he had a long-standing conflict.
