Mom who killed kids in reincarnation case gets life

PICKENS, S.C. – The husband of a South Carolina woman who killed their two children because she thought they would all be reincarnated in a better world can barely remember his own children because a bullet remains lodged in his skull.

The mother of the man told Circuit Judge Brian Gibbons about her son’s struggles Thursday, minutes before the judge sentenced 38-year-old Suzanna Simpson to life in prison. She was convicted of murder earlier in the day.

Prosecutors say Simpson shot her husband first in their Pickens County home in May 2013. She then killed her 7-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son with several shots to the head as they lay sleeping in their beds.

Simpson’s lawyer says she was insane and didn’t know right from wrong.
