Delaware State Fair vendors told to remove Confederate flags

WILMINGTON, Del. – At least two Delaware State Fair vendors who had been selling Confederate flags and items adorned with the symbol have been ordered to remove those products from their inventory.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports the vendors were ordered to remove the products Monday after the newspaper inquired about the fair’s policy.

Fair spokesman Danny Aguilar says they’ve adopted a policy barring their vendors from selling anything that can be found offensive, including the flag.

State Sen. Harris McDowell says he thinks the General Assembly should consider withholding some of the fair’s allocated funds if organizers continue to allow Confederate flags to be sold there.

Officials also sent the fair’s board of directors a letter requesting that vendors who continue selling the item be barred from returning in the future.
