Woman arrested for shooting gun in residential area near Barriere

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested for using a firearm carelessly at the Simpcw First Nation near Barriere Sunday night.

Officers from Barriere were called to a report of a number of gunshots in the area of Dunn Lake Road in the Simpcw First Nation community of Chu Chua at around 8:15 p.m., May 26, according to an RCMP media release.

While heavily-armed members of the emergency response team and the dog section contained the area, a shelter in place order was issued to residents via the Voyent Alert system.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly discharging a firearm carelessly in a residential area, RCMP said. The investigation continues.
