‘High profile’ stores sought for repurposed Vernon Liquidation World building

VERNON – A new chapter is beginning for the long-shuttered Liquidation World building, which has been sitting empty for more than three years.

With a prominent location on 30 Avenue downtown Vernon, the roughly 19,400 square foot building is being broken into six individual retail spaces, Ken McCluskey, with Royal LePage says. Liquidation World shut down in 2014, in line with a series of closures across the the country. 

He says a Kamloops group purchased the property in 2016 and expects spaces to be available for lease by February.

Despite being divided into smaller units, McCluskey says the rental spaces are still larger than most existing stores in the downtown.

“This is going to make it more interesting for larger retailers that require more space,” McCluskey says. “It’s going to bring some quality and higher profile tenants, maybe a national tenant, that’s what we’re looking for.”

One of the units is already under offer, and there’s been considerable interest in the others, McCluskey says.
