CALGARY – Alberta will host Canada’s athletes in celebrations before and after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
A team “block party” send-off will be held Jan. 11 in Banff before the Games open Feb. 7.
Calgary will host an athletes’ parade and the Olympic Hall of Fame gala dinner May 2.
The athletes will also attend celebration April 30 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
A similar celebration was held in Toronto in 2012 after the Summer Games in London.
The athletes paraded through the downtown and $3 million was raised for high-performance sport at the dinner.
The Canadian team’s goal in Sochi is to win more medals than any other country.
