iN PHOTOS: Breathtaking alpine wildflowers in full bloom in Okanagan, Kamloops

Alpine meadows are wide open spaces with rich green grasses and colourful wildflowers found high up in the mountains in the Thompson-Okanagan region.

The ecosystems are home to a range of flora and fauna, including numerous species of grasses, sedges and flowering plants that have adapted to survive the harsh mountainous elements, according to North American Nature.

Every spring and summer the meadows are filled with spectacular colours that turn into golden hues in the fall.

The open alpine landscape is ideal for birdwatching, photography, hiking, and enjoying the mountain views.
