BMW stolen from Calgary found in Salmon Arm ditch, couple arrested
SALMON ARM – Slippery roads helped Salmon Arm police catch a pair of car thieves over the weekend.
Staff Sgt. Scott West says RCMP officers on patrol came across a BMW in the ditch in the 3000 block of 11Avenue NE on Saturday, Feb. 17.
As the officer pulled up to see if the occupants were all right, a man and woman were seen walking away.
A licence plate check showed the BMW was stolen from Calgary on Feb. 9.
The man and woman seen walking away from the crashed car were arrested on the corner of 10Avenue NE and 8Avenue NE.
A 39-year-old man with no fixed address and a 23-year-old woman were arrested for possession of stolen property over $5,000.
She was released the same day, but he was held in custody because he was on probation in Alberta for possessing another stolen vehicle last year.
