WINNIPEG – Brier champion Brad Jacobs and Olympic gold medallist Kevin Martin are still undefeated at the Canadian Olympic curling trials.
Jacobs improved to 3-0 with a 6-5 win over Glenn Howard in Draw 6. Howard made it close with a point in the ninth end and a steal of another in the 10th, but couldn’t recover from an early deficit.
Martin joined him with a dramatic win over Kevin Koe. Martin scored two in the final end for a narrow 6-5 victory.
John Morris suffered his first defeat of the tournament. He fell 7-5 to Mike McEwen, who put the game away with three in the eighth end.
Local favourite Jeff Stoughton earned his first win of the event, edging John Epping 4-3.
The women play in the afternoon draw as Val Sweeting puts her 3-0 record on the line against Heather Nedohin.
