The Twitter Story: Breast cancer is the cause as thousands raise dollars and awareness

The CIBC Run for the Cure drew thousands of pink clad people in communities throughout the country including Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon on Sunday.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation annual event is Canada’s largest single day, volunteer led fundraising event. It was founded by a small group of volunteers who wanted to raise awareness and funds for the breast cancer cause.

Last year, over $30M was raised across the country. Roughly 170,000 people took part.

The money raised goes to research, education, awareness and advocacy initiatives.

Organizers are hoping Sunday's event was the most successful ever.
