The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market has been a staple for many in Kelowna for getting their fresh fruits and veggies each week. Three years ago, the market switched locations from the corner of Springfield and Dilworth Drive, where it was originally run for over 25 years. The market was on property that was listed for sale and slated for redevelopment, so it had to relocate. Many of the nearby regulars enjoyed the short walk to the market, but many vendors say they don’t see them anymore with the location change. The market now runs regularly just off Dickson Ave and Highway 97 with different market arrangements on both Wednesday and Saturday.

The market originally struggled with parking in the area, but has gained access to more free parking at nearby lots over time. With ongoing forest fire concerns, there has been a slight decline in tourists coming to the market over the last week. Plenty of people still come out each week to support their favourite farmers and artisans out at the market.

Many local businesses in the surrounding area appreciate the extra traffic on Wednesday and Saturday, as many people will pass by on foot and stop in and have a peek. “It’s actually been pretty great getting the extra customers in, especially on Saturdays,” says Patrick Dumont of Tabletop Depot, a local hobby store in the landmark district.

The market is currently running on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm. The market has a satellite market on Sundays at Kerry Park from 9 am to 3 pm.
