NEW YORK, N.Y. – Linda Lavin will find herself in a familiar place this spring — in a Nicky Silver play, being directed by Mark Brokaw at the Vineyard Theatre.
The off-Broadway theatre said Tuesday that Tony Award-winning Lavin will star in Silver’s new play “Too Much Sun,” which begins previews May 1, with an official opening set for May 20. The play is about a celebrated actress who unravels while preparing for a production of “Medea.”
Lavin, the former paper hat-wearing star of the TV series “Alice,” last year played a fearsome mother in Silver’s “The Lyons,” which debuted at the Vineyard under Brokaw’s direction. The role earned Lavin a Tony nomination.
The 76-year-old Lavin was recently in “Follies” at the Kennedy Center and “Other Desert Cities” at Lincoln Center.
