Break-ins in B.C. and Saskatoon net five-year prison sentence for Kamloops man
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A Kamloops, B.C., man who admitted breaking into houses in his hometown and in Saskatoon has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The B.C. Supreme Court heard that 47-year old Chadley Olson gained access through windows when he committed his crimes in the cities earlier this year.
Crown lawyer Frank Caputo provided the court with a 23-page document listing 99 stolen items including electronics and jewelry.
He told Justice Dev Dley that’s one of the biggest hauls he’s ever seen.
Court heard Olson has a long criminal history dating back to 1985, wasn’t able to work after losing his right eye in 2004 and became dependent on heroin, which fuelled his offences.
In pleading guilty to seven charges, Olson said he was relieved to be arrested so he could finally deal with his addiction from behind bars. (CHNL)
