Body removed from pond at Kamloops pulp mill

KAMLOOPS – After a full day of forensic investigation, a body found at the Domtar pulp mill in Kamloops has been removed.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release the body was recovered today, March 9.

At this time the identity of the body has not yet been completed, Shelkie says, and once an autopsy has been conducted, more information will be brought forward.

Officers are still processing the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Yesterday, Domtar spokesperson Jan Martin told iNFOnews.ca in an email that the mill was fully cooperating with authorities, but operations were still being conducted as normal.

The body was originally found March 7, after employees reported the discovery to police who then attended the mill on Mission Flats Road.
