Problem property subject to city inspection

PENTICTON – A problem property in Penticton was the subject of a safety inspection by the city yesterday.

City of Penticton Bylaw Services Supervisor says 377 Winnipeg was entered by police, fire and city bylaw officials yesterday for a fire and fire safety inspection around 11 a.m., April 5.

“Historically, this property has been an ongoing issue and has become a nuisance to the community,” Siebert said today, April 6.

She says nuisance abatement fees to the property owner have been issued, and will be collected at tax time if not paid beforehand.

Siebert says several fines have been levied over the past year on the property, which remain outstanding.

The property was the subject of council discussion on Tuesday, April 3, after a neighbouring resident made a presentation to council.

Recently the property had its electrical and water services cut.

Siebert says an investigation following the inspection is continuing.
