Weekend fire destroys Purolator courier terminal in northern New Brunswick

BATHURST, N.B. – Officials with Purolator say a fire that destroyed a distribution centre in northern New Brunswick will have a minimal impact on shipments.

The building in Bathurst was completely gutted by the blaze Saturday night.

In a statement, the company says the terminal was not operating at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

It says the company is implementing contingency plans to minimize the impact on employees and customers — including finding a temporary location.

Courtney Reistetter, the company’s manager of corporate communications, credits firefighters with the Bathurst fire department for their efforts to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
