BALTIMORE (AP) — George Beale’s 23 points off of the bench led Hampton to a 78-68 victory against UMBC on Tuesday night.
Beale went 9 of 16 from the field (3 for 5 from 3-point range) for the Pirates (2-3). Noah Farrakhan scored 19 points, shooting 7 for 9, including 3 for 3 from beyond the arc. Wayne Bristol Jr. shot 4 of 7 from the field, including 2 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 6 from the line to finish with 15 points, while adding nine rebounds.
The Retrievers (3-3) were led by Marcus Banks, who recorded 21 points. Josh Odunowo added 18 points.
Hampton led 40-36 at halftime, with Farrakhan racking up 15 points. Beale scored 12 second-half points.
