While many people avoided Kamloops roads this morning after a massive dump of snow, a 70-year-old Ridgeview Lodge resident braved the wintery conditions on his electric scooter.
RCMP were made aware of the missing senior after staff from the Desmond Street care facility reported him missing. It's believed he raced off just before 5 a.m. Staff were alarmed over his absence because he wasn't dressed for cold, snowy weather.
Police were told the man suffered from degenerative mental conditions but wasn't considered violent or a threat to anyone.
Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said RCMP found the man after following his scooter tracks in the snow nearby.
"He appeared to have been doing laps around the block," Learned said.
The man returned to the care facility with RCMP and turned over his scooter keys to Ridgeview staff.
"The elderly gentleman was extremely cooperative," Learned said.
