HALIFAX – A woman and her common-law husband charged with killing her ex-husband and his mother in a Toronto-area home are to appear today in a Halifax court.
Peel Regional Police say they will have officers in court to take custody of Melissa Merritt, 33, and Christopher Fattore, 36, to return them to Ontario to face first-degree murder charges.
Caleb Harrison, 41, was found dead last August in a home in Mississauga, Ont. — the same home where his mother Bridget Harrison, 63, died in 2010.
Bridget Harrison’s death was first classified as suspicious, but when officers started investigating her son’s death, they determined both had been asphyxiated.
Police say they have also reopened the investigation into the 2009 death of Caleb Harrison’s father, William Harrison, who died in the same home.
Merritt and Fattore were arrested Tuesday near Bridgewater, N.S., where they moved shortly after Caleb Harrison’s death.
