OTTAWA – Police and fire services have reopened streets near Parliament Hill that were evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a gas leak.
The leak was thought to have been caused by construction in the area.
It resulted in police cordoning off a four-block section of downtown.
The distinctive gas odour swept down the Sparks Street Mall a block from Parliament as police shepherded people out of some buildings and blocked streets.
No injuries were reported.
