The family of an Egyptian-Canadian journalist imprisoned in Cairo says the man is set to go on trial next week.
Mohamed Fahmy was working for Al Jazeera English when he and two co-workers were arrested on Dec. 29.
The 40-year-old was charged last month with several offences, including being a member of a terrorist group.
His family says the trial is set to begin on Thursday.
Fahmy’s brother says he’s surprised at how quickly the case is going to trial.
Fahmy’s family and Al Jazeera have strongly denied the allegations brought by the Egyptian government, saying the journalists were just doing their job.
