NEW YORK, N.Y. – Maggie Gyllenhaal will make her Broadway debut this fall opposite Ewan McGregor in “The Real Thing.”
Roundabout Theatre Company said Tuesday that Gyllenhaal and McGregor will play illicit lovers in the revival of Tom Stoppard’s play about relationships and fidelity. Sam Gold will direct.
Previews begin Oct. 2 and it will open officially on Oct. 30 at the American Airlines Theatre.
Gyllenhaal has appeared in films including “The Dark Knight” and “Secretary.” She earned an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress for 2009’s “Crazy Heart.” She also appeared in the Anton Chekhov play “Three Sisters” in 2011 alongside Peter Sarsgaard, Jessica Hecht and Josh Hamilton.
“The Real Thing” won the 1984 Tony Award for best play.
