Stephen Colbert, Jason Collins, Al Sharpton among guests invited to state dinner for Hollande

WASHINGTON – It’s not too often that comedian Stephen Colbert, the Rev. Al Sharpton and former pro basketball player Jason Collins find themselves in the same room. And in tuxedos, no less.

The three celebrities are among hundreds of people invited to a lavish state dinner Tuesday at the White House honouring French President Francois Hollande.

Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the star of the HBO series “Veep,” made the list. So did entrepreneur Elon Musk and New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor were also on a guest list the White House released shortly before the dinner.

Actresses Cicely Tyson and Mindy Kaling were also invited. So was Edith Windsor, whose lawsuit over same-sex marriage benefits rose to the Supreme Court last year.
