Air Canada posts better Q4 results but feels chill of December ice storm

MONTREAL – Air Canada (TSX:AC.A) had a $6-million net loss or two cents per share in the fourth quarter.

Its revenue was up slightly to $2.894 billion, an increase of $55 million from a year earlier.

Canada’s largest airline says it felt the impact of severe weather in December, when ice storms affected large parts of the United States and Canada and shut down its hub in Toronto.

Still, last quarter of 2013 was a vast improvement from a year earlier, when Air Canada had a net loss of $60-million, or 22 cents per share.

After excluding certain items, Air Canada had an adjusted profit of $3 million or one cent per share, also an improvement from a year earlier.
